Nike released the latest version of their Mercurial Vapor V football boots at the beginning of April, updated in look and technology to keep up with the latest lightweight technologies available and to try to keep ahead of the lightweight competitors such as the recently released Adidas F50.9 and Puma V1 boots.
On first impressions, the boots don’t look all that different from their predecessors, the highly popular Mercurial Vapor IV, with the same smooth look including the lace cover. Nike kinda got the look right with the IV and they didn’t need to completely change them (although it is difficult to see where they can go from here!). The first colourway released and currently available is the same as the Mercurial Superfly colours, orange (or red!) with silver – and there is a second colourway on pre-order now which look pretty smart purplely looking colour with white as you can see on the right.
Technology wise, the Vapor V uses similar flywire technology to the superfly to help it keep strength whilst staying light, which is the main update from the IV. Check out the prices below of the new Vapor V as well as its predecessor as when new models are released, this can be a good time to get a bargain on the old model!
