Nomis Football Boots

Nomis are a football boot brand a little off the main radar in terms of brand knowledge, but they are well worth a look. Run from Australia by a team led by ex Adidas big wig Simon Skirrow who helped get the original Adidas Predator off the ground, they have a good breeding. Nomis main goal is to make the most comfortable football boots available, and they hope that pure quality and word of mouth will get them well known rather than just throwing a lot of sponsorship money at a big Premier League name as the bigger companies do.
To help them create the boot they wanted, they concentrated on a mixture of kangaroo and bovine leather, which allowed the best combination of comfort and performance without compromising at all on quality. This mixture of upper also allowed them to create the two “control” technologies namely “wet control” and “dual control”. The unique upper (and it really is unique when you run your fingers over it) on the wet control boot creates superior ball grip in wet conditions. More grip gives more control, power, swerve and better performance. On the Dual Control upper, Nomis say “Dual Control Technology has been found in laboratory tests to create significantly more grip in dry conditions compared to other standard leather boots.”
So, onto the boot models. The top of the range “wet control” boot is the Nomis Glove, as seen in the photo on the right. These boots will really excel in the winter as the boot helps control the ball much better than a traditional k-leather boot or one of the newer technologies as seen from the other companies. The boots look stylish and make enough of a statement without needing to be outlandish, and are a great choice for a season’s football.
The Nomis Spark and Nomis Instinct are both top of the range “dual control” boots which excel in the drier weather, but don’t let that make you think they don’t work well in the winter, as they do. The Spark follows the trend of the Glove with a foldover tongue, a bit like the Predator Powerswerve, with the Instinct utilising an extension of the upper to cover the laces and give you the largest possible sweet spot to hit the ball from.
The Nomis Supremecy is for the player who prefers the traditional moulded stud layout, and is available with either the wet control or dual control upper. The Nomis Pearl is the boot for the more value conscious player at the lower end of the market but retains the name control technology. You can also get the Nomis boots in an astroturf format, check out all the prices and options below and see if they suit you!
