Adidas Predator and F50i Champions League Editions

Over the last couple of years Adidas has used the knockout stages of the Champions League to release a new selection of colourways and 2010 is the same with new colourways released in both the Adidas Predator X and Adidas F50i models. Both of these can be pre-ordered now for delivery in March.

Adidas Predator X Champions League

The Adidas Predator X Champions League edition boot is a mainly blue coloured affair, with subtle hints of red and gold, all which help lead to a classy looking boot. These boots are available to pre-order now, and they will be sent to you once they are released in late March. The rest of the boot remains the same as the initial Predator X colourways, with the rubber silicon mix giving the swerve that Predator’s are known for, and the quality leather upper that top players demand giving this boots real quality. Adidas F50i Champions League

The second Adidas boot given the “Champions League” treatment is the successful and lightweight F50i tunit boots, and these look a bit more striking than the Predator X boot above, in that they are primarily (well, almost completely) bright red, with just a hint of gold. These boots certainly stand out on the pitch no matter what colour kit you play unless it it red from head to toe! Again, the boot remains the same technically as the previous F50i tunit colourways, so you still get the lightweight sprintskin upper, and tunit sole that allows you to place different studs in the sole depending on the ground on any particular day. Limited Edition Red Umbro Speciali Boots

To co-incide with Umbro releasing the new England away shirt for 2010 they have also released a special limited edition version of its top of the range football boot, the Speciali. These boots are released on the 3rd March, the same day that England will wear the new red kit for the first time.

John Terry, Darren Bent and Michael Owen are all wearers of the Umbro Speciali, but with only Terry in the current England thoughts whether or not we will see these boots in conjunction with the new kit we’re not sure just yet.

The Speciali is a very classical boot that is finding favour with a lot of professionals across the leagues who appreciate the quiet quality available in this boot. The Speciali Statement has a supersoft kangaroo leather forefoot and full grain leather body. On the outside of the boot, players are able to gather improved acceleration with the flexible sole plate that allows more movement in the foot, and there is a customised England crest on the sole plate.

Nike Total 90 Laser III

If you have been watching Wayne Rooney scoring plenty of goals recently, you may well have noticed some striking new boots he’s been wearing whilst doing it – the new Nike Total90 Laser III! In the launch colourway of bright green, red and black these boots are easily noticed and a good way for Nike to draw attention to this brand new model.

The Laser III’s are a large leap forward from the previous model, no simple “change the colour and slightly update”, this is an all new model that looks and works very different. The biggest change is the repositioning of the “shot shield” which previously was right on the top of the boot, above the laces. The laces are now off-centred which gives room for the well shaped shot shield to sit both on the top of the boot and on the instep, where a lot of powerful shots are hit from. Nike’s designers and technical team put a lot of time, effort and money into making this the most powerful, accurate boot as is demanded by the people who wear the Laser III’s such as Rooney and Torres.

The shot shield pods act as one, and are made of memory foam, which both allow for a smooth and clean strike on the ball, which means more accuracy when striking the ball. These pods also have raised TPU fins which allow for greater friction on ball contact to delivery maximum swerve as well.

The Total90 Laser III is available in premium-grade Teijin synthetic leather, or premium leather for overall fit, comfort and performance.

Nike Mercurial Vapor Yellow / Gold

If you watched any football this weekend the chances are you saw a striking new colourway from the Nike Mercurial Vapor range – a (very) bright yellow and gold colourway. The professionals are wearing this brand new colourway ahead of its official launch date at the beginning of Jan 2010, but you can pre-order them now from Just Socca.

Gabby Agbonlahor was wearing this brand new colourway whilst scoring the winning goal against Man Utd this weekend, whilst over in Spain Zlatan Ibrahimovic and team mate Pedro wore them whilst helping Barcelona to a 1-0 win over Espanyol. All the normal qualities of the Mercurial Vapor exist in this new yellow and gold colourway, so you still get a super lightweight boot, available as the standard Mercurial Vapor or as the even lighter Vapor Superfly.

Adidas F50i Tunit Macaw (Green)

You may have seen a striking new colourway of the Adidas F50i tunit at the weekend on the feet of Adebayor and Wright Phillips of Manchester City, Ashley Young for Aston Villa or David Villa and Lionel Messi in Spain as they were all wearing the new macaw / white / black version of this lightweight boot. Following on from the previous cyan colourway, this version is even brighter as you can see below!

The technology surrounding the F50i tunit hasn’t changed since they were revealed in the Champions League at the end of last season, and have proven a successful boot so far this season. With the image embargo lifted on the Predator X football boots we can now show you the all new Adidas Predator model, replacing the Powerswerve. Rather than go into too much detail right now, we’re going to go straight into the images for you of the two colourways released at launch, the red/black and white/yellow. More information on the technology behind the boots scroll below the photos, and to buy them just look at the panel on the right which will show you the latest prices from around the web.

The black and red version doesn’t lead itself to great photos hence we’ve used the white and yellow to show off the new look of the boot more in the above photos. We weren’t sure on the look of the boots when we first saw them, but they have grown on us a bit and the white and yellow version looks quite smart. These boots will be worn by Gerrard, Raul, Ballack, Kuyt and many more players around Europe and the world over the next few weeks as pre-orders are now available, with the boot fully released on the 14th November. Available in hard or soft ground.

The Adidas Predator X continues to give power, swerve and control as they have done throughout their life, with the power coming from the all new ‘powerspine’ which is Adidas technology that minimizes the energy loss during a shot by reducing the flex in the forefoot area. The swerve element of the Predator X is new, using a rubber-silicon mix that is placed on the part of the foot most used to impact maximum swerve and allows for a high friction rate to impact that swerve. This area has moved slightly from the powerswerve after many consultations with top professionals and many months of testing.

So, you’ve seen the images, you’ve read about the technology behind them, all that is left to do if you are convinced is to go and buy them!

Adidas Predator X Football Boots

Its almost hard to believe that on the 26th October, the tenth edition of the Adidas Predator boots will be released – called the Predator X. Almost unrecognisable from the original predator, the predator x football boots will be seen for the first time officially next Monday with pre-orders then being taken for delivery in November. We’ve seen the official images but are holding off displaying them for now as is Adidas’ wish. We will tell you that the two colourways at launch are the traditional predator red and black, and a white and yellow version which shows off the new lines of the boot much better in the photos.

From the previous version of the boot, the predator powerswerve, the “vamps” on the boot have been replaced with a new whole area rather than individual vamps which should help give increased power and swerve when kicking a ball. The foldover tongue as seen on many predator boots over the years has been removed on the predator x boot which although is a shame from a nostalgic point of view, makes sense when it comes to utilising this boots best technologies.

As always, the predator x will be available in hard and soft ground stud options, and will be available to pre-order here from the 26th October. Check back next week when we’ll be able to show you the photo’s we’ve seen!

International stars such as Steven Gerrard and Raul have already been seen wearing blacked out versions of these boots, so there is the possibility that you will be able to see these boots in action this weekend then come here on Monday to find the official images and to pre-order them.
